State of Grace

When it comes to enjoying drinks in Melbourne CBD, every season is rooftop season. That’s especially true at the State of Grace in the city’s historic Melbourne Steamship Co Building. This popular venue offers a blend of hidden retreats across multiple levels, including the rooftop.

Creating a comfortable atmosphere for State of Grace's open rooftop amid Melbourne's unpredictable weather presented significant challenges. The space features a substantial open steel structure and various covered areas, demanding a powerful and adaptable heating solution.

Heatray products for this space include Gas-fired Tube Radiant Heaters (TRHs) and Electric Infrared Radiant Heaters (IRH-Es). This combination allowed for tailored heating across different zones of the rooftop, ensuring guests remained warm and comfortable regardless of the weather.

Heatray’s TRHs were installed in larger areas with higher mounting positions to leverage their reach and capacity, while the high-spec 3200W IRH-E units were chosen for lower mounting positions to provide localised heat control. This strategic placement ensures the efficient distribution of warmth.

The integrated heating system has ensured State of Grace can maintain a year-round reputation with consistent, energy-efficient warmth. This allows guests to enjoy cocktails and the cityscape without the chill and, ultimately, to feel on top of the world.
